Ways to Enhance Your High
There are many reasons to love cannabis. From its health benefits, euphoria-inducing properties, and a myriad of other effects, there’s a lot to enjoy out of this complex plant. But, if you’re a regular cannabis consumer, then you know very well that it’s easy to build up a tolerance over time.
The good news is that there are ways you can maximize your smoking sessions. If you’re looking to enhance your high, look no further. Here are our 8 tips for getting the most out of your products:
Drink tea
Enjoy a cup of black or green tea before or during your smoke session. Both of these teas contain catechin, an antioxidant that binds to the CB1 receptors in your brain. This will help the cannabinoids in weed bind with your receptors more efficiently, creating more soothing and euphoric effects.
Exercise
Exercising before or after you smoke is shown to increase THC levels in the blood. For example, in a study done by the University of Sydney, cannabis users who used a stationary bike for 35 minutes had plasma THC levels increase by 15%. Furthermore, the study concluded that “exercise may elevate blood THC levels by releasing dormant THC from fat stores.” As a result, you can get healthier and higher at the same time. And what better time to roll a joint and relax than after an intense workout?
Exercise and cannabis have a mutually beneficial relationship; meaning exercise doesn’t just help cannabis work better – but also, cannabis encourages user’s to exercise more and helps them recover quicker. Learn more by reading our full blog on Exercise and Fitness.
Eat healthily
Not a fan of hot drinks? Teas aren’t the only food that helps enhance your high. Another popular choice is mangoes, which are packed with myrcene. This terpene gives mangoes their fresh fragrance but can also trigger the THC when you smoke. It’s best to enjoy them an hour or two before you consume cannabis for maximum effects.
Dark chocolate (72% or higher) also has a similar effect. It’s packed with antioxidants, as well as slows down the breakdown of anandamide. This compound is one of the endocannabinoids found naturally in the body that THC acts on. So, slowing down the breakdown of it means you’ll be high longer.
Another way you can enhance your high is by eating food high in terpenes. Like mangoes, myrcene can be found in broccoli and nuts. Pinene, another abundant terpene, is found in many herbs like sage and thyme.
Lastly, you can also try foods high in omega 3 fatty acids. Some of these include walnuts, chia seeds, and flax seeds.
Choose wisely
Not all cannabis is created equally. There are hundreds of strains to choose from, all offering different levels of cannabinoids and terpenes. Some strains produce light, airy highs, while others will pin you to the ground. Learning how to read a cannabis label can help you find the perfect product since it includes information like the strain type, THC content, and more.

Use a grinder
Now that you’ve researched and found the perfect strain, using it effectively is just as important. Using a grinder will help ensure you’re getting the most out of your flower. Well-ground weed exposes more surface, which in turn burns more evenly and allows for neater packing.
Plus, when you use a grinder, you’ll get kief. This is the highly concentrated THC that comes from the trichomes of the flower. Sprinkle it on top for an extra kick.
Switch up the consumption method
Our bodies get used to routines. Instead, try new methods, new places, or smoking with new people. Switching up the consumption method is like throwing yourself a curveball. All will keep your mind more active and engaged, thus creating a more euphoric experience.
Store it well
Weed should be kept away from sunlight, moisture, and heat to preserve its quality. Along with this, it’s best to store it in a glass or steel jar. Make sure to not store it in plastic containers or bags because plastic can conduct an electric charge which will fry the flower’s trichomes.
Tolerance break
Lastly, if none of the above tips are working – it might be time to take a small break. Even a couple of days without smoking will help if you’re a daily user. If you’re struggling without THC, using CBD can help alleviate any discomfort. The longer you take a break, the better you’ll be able to enhance your high the next time around.
